Shuyu prefers to introduce herself as a "designer"  who isn't confined to any role like motion graphics designer, UI/UX designer, or 2D animator. She relies on her rational thinking and spontaneous creativity to dig up solutions for any existing problem from clients or society at large.

This piece was inspired by “Laurence Anyways," a Xavier Dolan's film. This film is about a transgender woman named Laurence, who spent ten years in her life trying to find her true self and mend relationships with her loved ones.

Symbolism was used heavily in this film. Laundry indicates happiness; the earring shows Laurence's gender identity; Fred's hair color change suggests the change in her attitude to Laurence and marriage… By showing these symbols scene by scene, the promo can convey the mood of the movie to viewers.

When creating this project, I faced technical issues creating realistic style frames as in the movie. Realizing it was impossible as a C4D newbie, I turned back to the theme of "symbolism" and embraced the minimalistic of those symbolic objects. The bricks, clothes, raindrops, and earrings became the main elements, connected by a pink line that hints at Laurence's story and forms the title at the end.
